Mark 7:24-30 - A True Israelite

How can God's longtime enemy suddenly become a part of God's family? In our next section from Mark's gospel, after dealing with the Jewish religious elite in his homeland, Jesus travels beyond Israel to the land that was historically condemned by God's covenant people.

While it would be expected that Jesus might come across a threat, he instead comes across a woman who is believed to have some prestige, externally speaking, but whose family situation has made her desperate and without anywhere else to go. She comes to Jesus in the full assurance of faith, and even after hearing some understandably confusing words from Jesus, she remains persistent. For that reason, the seemingly undeserving woman is now considered a child of the Most High God.

We ask ourselves, do we have that kind of faith which the woman had, so as to take Jesus for all that He is and look nowhere else except Him?
